Is it 21 Century?

According to CNN Turk’s site (Saturday 3.December 2005) a politician in Siirt, belonging to DEHAP due to a telephone interview with ROJ TV in November have been condemned to one month and fifteen days imprisonment by the penal court. The imprisonment decision has been turned into fines now.

The news also reports that due to a telephone interview with ROJ TV, an ongoing investigation on Mr. Selahedin Demirtas the head of Human Rights Association in Amed (Diyarbakir) has started on 29 November.

CNN Turk adds "while the pressures of government on Denmark is continuing to force the closure of ROJ TV, the Police authority conducting their prosecutions here in Turkey”.

The spokesperson of Security Directorate Ismail Caliskan, announced yesterday that they are recording ROJ TV's broadcasting and as an evidence of “Crime”! In Nusaybin filming of a documentary for ROJ TV have resulted in opening of a criminal case by Ankara's Republican prosecuting office for investigating the content of speeches of those people who have been interviewed by ROJ TV."

The question is how this sort of conduct could be justified in 21 century.
