PM Erdogan: Denmark waiting for police reports on Roj TV

HURRIYET; Tuesday, November 29, 2005 16:05

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the possible closure of Roj TV in Denmark, saying that Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was "waiting on findings from the police," and adding that "he himself has said that without conclusive findings from the police, there is nothing he can do about it."

In a statement made yesterday at Ankara's Esenboga Airport on his way back from the "Alliance of Civilizations" summit in Spain, PM Erdogan reported that the summit had gone very well, and then answered a number of questions from reporters, including some aimed specifically at the move to have Denmark based Roj TV shut down.

"The process now depends on Danish tactics"

"Contrary to what the media has reported, Rasmussen said to us 'I am waiting on findings from the police.' Right now the police are acting on investigations there. Rasmussen also told me that he had received documents from the US on the subject too." Erdogan then noted that Rasmussen had assured him that Denmark did not look warmly on the idea of harboring a terror group on their land . "The process from here on depends on their tactics and will" said Erdogan.
